Little Bear has been talking a lot more lately. Often, she’ll mix signs and words like she does in the following video with “cook” and “bed.”

And an older one, because I think I forgot to post it earlier….

Miss Independent

Little Bear has been increasingly insistent on feeding herself at dinner. We even got her special spoons that would be easier to handle (read: were marketed well). Mostly she makes it in her mouth but I’m considering some of those bibs with sleeves.

 

She’s also lately taken to signing “All Done” (see picture below) when she wants to be finished with an activity such as being changed, grocery shopping, or having her nose wiped. Awesome. We give her the tools to communicate and she uses them against us.

Ever since Little Bear was about three months old, I have been signing to her as often as I can remember. Not a lot of signs, just the basics, like milk, more, all done, water, drink, and eat. Anyway, I was doing "more" again at dinner tonight and thinking to myself that she was never going to pick it up and then she looked over.... and signed it right back to me. She's got food in her hand during this video but she did it several more times when I said "more" to her and then a few more times on her own. Like Nana said, "I guess we better step up the signing!"
